The Three Queen's Pyramids
Note on the Giza Plateau are the three smaller companies that are in a row along the southern wall of the main pyramid. Appointed a group 3a, c, attributed the effects of Queens Menkaure. These, only a 3 bis of the pyramid is real, and the other two that have a core set of four steps, and some Egyptologists believe that works like a pyramid of worship, but obviously also be used to attend a funeral. All three of these pyramids was surrounded by a fence around the common.
P 3 (a), at the eastern end of the Pyramids, in fact, the small funerary temple, from east to west its own, which can be accessed from the courtyard of the pyramid. This was probably partly funerary temple is built of limestone, but soon ended up with mud brick. On the western edge of the funerary temple courtyard was dominated by a fairly large opening, which had been built in niches in the northern wall. On the south side was a row of wooden columns. A small church to worship with the entrance is decorated with a double deep ports on each side, which leads to the projection room has a false door. Attachments store is located in the northwestern part of the temple, located in the south-west of the stairs leading to the surface.
Pyramid group 3a was the largest of the three structures, with the entrance located in the center of the north wall, just a little above ground level. Have their own infrastructure consists of the burial chamber dug in the rock at the base of the pyramid, which communicates with the entrance hall is equipped with the barrier down. This burial chamber was equipped with the coffin of pink granite and decorated on the floor near the Western Wall. Unfortunately, it quickly fell prey to grave robbers. There are also pieces of pottery and wood burning and mats in this camera.
We really have little idea who was buried in the pyramid 3a p. Reisner thought it might be the principal consort of Menkaure, and the second Khamerernebti, but on the basis of a statue of the Queen which is on the invitation Galarza tomb in the central part of the necropolis of Giza, and others believed to be buried next to her mother Khamerernebti I'm in this tomb. In fact, it is not impossible that this pyramid was just a pyramid of worship which the latter became a tomb.
In addition to being smaller, and lacks the real shape of a pyramid, p 3 B also differ in other details. These include the placement of the vestibule, which lacks the barrier. The bones of a young woman found in the pink granite sarcophagus, which stood against the western wall of the burial chamber found in the northwestern part of the pyramid. As p 3 (a), which also has a small mortuary temple, though in this case was directed towards the north and south.
G. 3c never be complete with the cover. Such as a group 3b, the burial chamber was constructed in the northwestern part of the pyramid, and it is not the end itself. Although it did not find the burial inside the pyramid, there was no clear evidence of the worship in the small mortuary temple that stood in front of the east side of the pyramid. He was also an action-oriented group 3b, this structure Adobe north to south.
Unfortunately, the owners of G s 3 is completely lost for us, and will never be known. We are sure that they were relatively peer Menkaure, but otherwise, any information about these women of royalty.
