The Pyramid of Snefru (Red Pyramid) at Dahshur

The Red Pyramid (North Pyramid) at Dahshur
After the Great Pyramid of Cheops in Giza and the Red Pyramid at Dahshur is the largest base (only slightly smaller than the pyramid of Cheops, each side measuring 722 feet) of any pyramid in Egypt. However, with aspects of the sloping 43 degrees 22 ', is much lower than the 343 feet (104 meters). He is the fourth highest pyramid ever built in Egypt, with approximately 160 layers of stone. To a large extent, the Red Pyramid was first beaten, of course, the pyramid built in Egypt pipes, heralding the age of the pyramids in Giza style.
Built by Khufu's father, Bent, what makes this pyramid special today is the lack of crowds and circus atmosphere that prevails in the Giza Plateau, together with the fact that currently can be entered without limitation. Not long ago, the region can not be visited Dahshur, which probably explains why an important monument has a very small number of visitors. However, it is only a short drive from the area of Saqqara and a short drive from Cairo.
Pyramid gets its name from the common reddish limestone used to build more than substance, but is also sometimes known as Sendero Luminoso or the north of the pyramid. Learning from past mistakes, and used several layers of fine white limestone, to lay the foundation of the pyramid, thereby eliminating the structural problems of the first pyramids. Tura limestone was used stone cladding to cover the pyramid.
Although some of the shell is still mostly have been removed. However, for every twenty were found covered stone inscriptions on the back. Bent has been included with some of the cartridge, while others were written in red to designate the different work teams, such as the "Gang Green" or "Western rock. Senefru cartridge is an important discovery, especially since there is no definition of the signs inside the pyramid.
And perhaps most importantly is the fact that I had dated in some homes.
This not only gives us clues about how long it took building the pyramid, but also in a series of acts that took place. Of these, and we know that the pyramid may have been started between the twenty-second and twenty-ninth year of the rule of Bent. Other dates to tell us that after two years and six layers of stone had been established. However, it may have been within four years, and 30 per cent of the completion of the pyramid and the pyramid has all but ended in about seven years.
To the east of the pyramid is all that remains of the mortuary temple, and the cornerstone of the first (pyramidion) that were found to belong to the Old Kingdom pyramid.
Was found in fragments and reconstruction. Mortuary temple itself, although it remains to be anything, is important because Bent pioneer in the east and west alignment of Egyptian temples to match the path of the sun.
Such as the Egyptian pyramids for the most part, is the only entrance on the north side, leading to a corridor descended 206 meters at an angle of 27 degrees to the first room.
The first room has accumulated (pitch) roof with a height of 40 feet. In fact, the three chambers in this pyramid has vaulted ceiling,
between eleven and fourteen layers. Even with nearly two million tons of stone above, the roof design is so strong that there are no cracks or structural problems even today.

Entrance Passageway
A short corridor on the south side of the first room contains a second camera. This is the first two chambers at ground level, while the third room, is higher, and the pyramid was built inside the factory itself.
Second camera is unusual, because it is directly under the top of the pyramid, or the midpoint of the pyramid. It's one of the pyramids in Egypt, but this plan design. The final room, with entrance hall about 25 feet above the floor of the room, can be accessed through the staircase (modern building).

Staircase to Third Chamber

Corridor leading to the final room is 23 feet long. Egyptologists believe that this end camera was bound to the actual burial chamber. Room about 14 feet by 27 feet, with vaulted ceiling reaching a height of 50 feet. Soil were excavated in an unsuccessful attempt to find other ways.
