The Cenotaph Temple of Ramesses II at Abydos

About one-third mile to the north-west of the tomb of Seti I at Abydos temple is known in the extreme west of the village of Beni Mansour, temple of Ramses II built for himself, but were not completely preserved, and preservation of the details of its many patterns and brightly painted perhaps better than any ever on any monument built by Ramses II. In fact, this should be the temple door frames with pink and black granite, columns of sandstone and marble shrine was the most beautiful and richest among the temples of Ramses II built. Judging by the quality of the scenes in low relief, and similar quality to those found in the temple of Seti I, it seems no doubt that artists should come from the previous generation.
This temple was dedicated mainly to Osiris, however, while the children of Ramses II, when he was involved in a ruler with Seti I, and the design was more traditional and modern model funerary temple at Thebes. Walls of the temple, made of limestone, and very few, and now stands only about two meters (6 feet, 6 inches) tall.
The first tower and the courts are now in ruins and the pink granite entrance, leads directly to the second covered yard surrounded by a portico columns Osira in the north, east and south sides. None of the pillars is preserved in its peak and statues dedicated Osira the king of all lack the head and shoulders. Northern wall of the courtyard showing processions of priests and a campaign to make the bull decorated with deer, as well as Libyan soldiers and others. Also in the north wall there are some interesting writings. Some of the old amateur artists included in the image of God - hert and was ordained a priest before he bears the inscription "Djed - IAH, orders, Office of Women's Affairs, the priest of Osiris, Djedi - Ankh, and '.

In the back of the court on the southwestern side is the high balcony with two chapels dedicated to Seti I and deified ancestors of the king on the left and two shrines to the gods of the nine Ra, Ramses II (and Osiris Khenty - Amentiu (on the right. Ancestral shrine, once contained on the agenda Kings in the north wall, part of which (in the "second layer of Abydos') is now in the British Museum.

On the northern wall with the inscription of King Ramses gate nine workshops on behalf of the Asian tribes invaded. There is a great gateway to the very polished black granite, five feet and decorated with scenes and inscriptions, which has been restored in the middle of the frame leads to a hall of columns first.

Hall columns first, known as the Hall appearance, was also awarded Ramses was still a youth cooperation between the father, although the cartridges ruling later amended to contain the titles of their property. Eight rectangular columns support the roof, which is now lost. Decoration of this room is similar to that court, and the gallery, but has a frieze of bright colors on the walls represent the gods less West Nile. These are painted in different colors, red represents the Nile River in flood, green and blue represent in the winter, summer. Other scenes portray imagine Pharaoh making an offering to Osiris, at the head of the convoy, carrying a symbol of worship in the temple of Abydos, and her coronation. On the western edge of the southern wall of the chamber through a narrow staircase up to the surface, although there are now only 12 remaining steps.

And the second contains eight columns of the colonnaded sandstone, with three churches each leader outside the walls of the left and right. The chapels on the left side may be dedicated to the gods of good, while the right to the gods of Abydos. In one of the shrines for the latter in the northern wall of the color is a relief to Ms. Hekate goddess' Abydos, usually depicting a frog, but in this case shows the human face. With their Lord, and Anubis, the god of 'the Holy Land "also contains a man's head and not a jackal as usual, and this is the only known example of Anubis with the human head.
On the back of the havens of the major pillars of the three second. The main mausoleum is the tomb of alabaster "" Osiris, where we can see a set of restoration of gray granite statue which was brought from elsewhere in the temple, and shows (perhaps), Isis, Osiris and Horus, Seti I and Ramses II. This room also included a double false door on the back wall. The north of the shrine was dedicated to Isis, while the south of the three most likely dedicated to Horus.

In the corners of the Western Wall in the north and south are two houses rooms statue believed to have also some very colorful patterns. Each of these ports and feature nine decorated room has a southern relief of Ramses nice to Osiris, which are protected by the pillar unusual winged humanoids, djed. This is thought to be one of representation as soon as possible, a symbol that has become popular in the strains at a later time.
Only in the lower parts of the exterior walls and the walls still exist in the north and west have a version of the Battle of Kadesh Ramses II at the relief point is nice, but were not complete, as is the case in some of the parameters at a later time, such as births to the temple of Luxor and Abu Simbel Ramesseum. However, the quality of these patterns is much higher than others, achieved thanks to a fine of limestone used in this temple. In the outer south wall is the lower part of the schedule of festivals that offer lists provided by the actual staffing to be submitted on a holiday. Under this describes the temple of Ramses II, along with the process of building and donations, which seems to be accurate in what is still to this day. It describes a loaf of white limestone, and granite gates and a haven of pure marble, which must have been very beautiful in its time.
