Museum of Islamic Art


The fourth major museums in the framework sequence comprises the collections of Islamic art. Is located in the field of door creation Ahmed Maher in Cairo. The idea for the collection and preservation of Islamic artifacts in one place in about 1880 when the Egyptian government to collect Islamic monuments transferred and saved in the courtyard of the eastern Al-Hakim Mosque.

In 1952, visions of the museum includes the effects of non-Arab countries such as Turkey and Iran, this has become known as the "Museum of Islamic Art" and so his circle has widened to include traces of the Islamic world.
The museum houses 23 Hall then added two rooms are set aside in 1983, one of the Islamic coins and the other for the fabric and carpets, also added a garden museum. Effects due to the acquisitions of the museum from the seventh century until the end of the nineteenth century, ranging from coins, from ancient Islamic manuscripts, pottery, ceramics, metals, timber, glass, fabric and carpets.
