El Amarna:small temple of the Aten

In recent years, a certain coherence and to restore them to a small temple of the Aten. This included the building of a column are similar. The main wall also remains, which was strengthened by a one-time outside the towers. There are brick towers at the entrance, and others that divides the interior of this building. In the back of the temple sanctuary was built of limestone and sandstone.
This temple has a coat of plaster, which is now covered by sand. However, the modern blocks have been placed in the upper part of the sand, to provide basic guidelines for this temple.
A circular walk starting from the center of the northern wall of the small square of this temple reveals other parts of the city center. A series of high hills of sand and other debris that flows north from the other side of the street through the center of a small palace, built of mud brick. Known as the King's house, and perhaps to accommodate the Royal Family on their visits North of the palace.
Behind His Majesty the King and the House of Representatives in the temple of Aten small (most of the Nile), a group of government buildings built of mud brick. This is really where the famous Amarna letters were discovered by rural women in 1888.
The main town is sometimes known as the South
To the south of the small temple of the Aten is the main city, which was in the main residential area of the ancient city going to the south, near the modern city of Al Haj jellyfish. Was part of the city occupied by the most important people (except the King), including Nakht vizier, Panehsy the high priest, the priest Pawah, complex Manekhtawitf year architect and sculptor Thutmose (Tuthmosis). And perhaps connected to this quarter was a temple of the river, is still in the context of the use of Ramses III, and perhaps even later in the family 26th.
May have been directly after the City of Central. Here is to build a platform to allow visitors to see inside a private home, which has been cleaned and restored in recent years. Although it is likely that one of the senior officials, and the house is not known. Here, there are the ruins of silos.

Further south, and about half way between El-Haj Kandil and location of the edge of the desert outside the main city, was discovered in the famous statue of Queen Nefertiti in Tuthmosis workshop.
In other parts of the city has increased, and cities, and in an irregular way disordered, as citizens erected buildings where it is believed it was useful. Some suggest Akhenaten lack the resources necessary to control the rapid growth of the new city plan and the organization of work (in other Egyptian cities are much more carefully established).
Barrio Norte
On the northern outskirts of the city are separated by a central depression. Seems to have been populated mainly by the middle class as a strong commercial element. Did not begin until the middle of the reign of Akhenaten, and was suddenly abandoned, it seems, at the end of his reign. Then, it seems, at home and re-inhabited by those who can not afford travel expenses to return to the good after the end of the Amarna period.
At first there was a large property built here between East and West roads, medium-class and poor homes, which would appear in a later time so blocked the streets that were added.
